NATICK - Officials are dedicating the 2015 town report to longtime volunteer Ken Soderholm, Town Administrator Martha White told Town Meeting Tuesday.

White praised Soderholm for time he has dedicated to volunteering for youth sports and other groups as well as serving on a variety of town boards including the Planning Board and Conservation Commission.

His “extraordinary leadership” has contributed to the town’s quality of life and economic security, White said.

Soderholm said he was honored by the dedication and enjoys his volunteer activities. Everyone in the room deserves some recognition for their volunteer service, he told Town Meeting.

Town Meeting gave him a standing ovation.

Bright, happy kids’ rooms in Needham

Through the nonprofit Room to Dream Foundation, three siblings get cheery spaces to call their own.

With their son Stephen’s health challenges, Raven and Greg Register were most concerned about safety and practicality when they first furnished his bedroom in their house in Needham. Born with a rare disorder called incontinentia pigmenti, Stephen, now 8, copes with compromised sight, balance, and body strength. A double bed in his room took up a lot of space, but its size prevented him from rolling out. Lamps were chosen for the amount of light they provided.

After 18 Years of Service Ken Soderholm Steps Down

Metrowest Daily News - December, 10 2009

For 18 years I served town government in various capacities, the latest was 10 years on the planning board. During this time I had the good fortune to be part of a group that approved the Natick mall expansion, worked on the Natick Paperboard site, many developments on Rte. 9 and residential developments.

It was highly rewarding to utilize my professional expertise in volunteering my time to make our community a better place to live, work and visit.
